Springfield's Favorite Family Makes Its Debut in Psyonix's Hit Game: But It's Not the Vehicle You're Dreaming Of
We already knew that the iconic animated series was teaming up with Epic Games' battle royale, but this isn't the sole place where enthusiasts can immerse themselves in the universe of Springfield. The beloved show is also making its way to Rocket League, introducing an in-game car skin that will also be compatible in the Fortnite universe. However, if gamers will truly desire to equip it is another question, as fans have their hearts set on just one Springfield car the community is itching to get behind the wheel of, and this new offering isn't that one.
What Fans Really Want
Although most gamers would undoubtedly love to face off while driving Homer's custom creation—the famously flawed automobile the patriarch built himself in the 1991 episode "the one where he meets Herb"—regrettably, that isn't what players are receiving. We aren't even getting the massive SUV, the heavy-duty vehicle showcased in the tenth season. Rather, fans are getting the family's standard beat-up four-door, which they've been driving since the show's early days. Even though this particular car has accumulated plenty of miles, it remains an iconic symbol of the show. And for players who pay attention to Rocket League car hitboxes, the Simpson family car uses the same hitbox as the Dominus body type.

Additional Themed Cosmetics
But that's not the only customization item from the show coming to the game. This limited-time event will also include a series of objectives to unlock additional goodies, all of which are Simpsons-themed. As detailed in a official announcement, the challenges will task players to "get as many centers and clears as there are The Simpsons seasons, gather boost canisters as if your GPS is set to The Simpsons’ house, and travel a specific distance worthy of acquiring the perfect donuts!"
Although the complete list of challenge rewards isn't yet disclosed, here is what's been announced up to this point:
- Blinky topper
- Homer's Hedges player banner
- Waste wheels
- 20,000 XP per challenge
If the key art is any indication, it appears players will also receive wheels with a TV showing the show's title sequence, alien antenna toppers, a frosted doughnut trail, and boost effects inspired by burning tires and Krusty's famous restaurant.
Event Timing and Fortnite Connection
This event coincides with the major The Simpsons invasion of Fortnite, which brings a completely new playable area of Springfield, as well as a 30-day seasonal progression system. The Rocket League x The Simpsons celebration begins on Saturday, Nov. 1 and ends on Nov. 17.
