National Football League Week Five Highlights: Jets vs Cowboys and Additional Matchups
Real-time NFL Coverage
Greetings, NFL enthusiasts! Join us for week five of the National Football League season, where I'll deliver every update from the opening window. This is a perfect late morning affair on the west coast at 10:00 AM (PST), stretching to an early evening 6:00 PM (BST) in jolly old England. We just saw, the Vikings mounted a comeback to defeat the Cleveland Browns by four points thanks to a 12-yard Jordan Addison scoring catch with under half a minute remaining at the London venue. The Vikings improve to three wins and two losses, while Cleveland fall to 1-4. The Sunday lineup is in full swing.
Today features a solid lineup of six contests to follow:
Baltimore Ravens v Houston Texans
Carolina Panthers v Dolphins
Indianapolis Colts v Raiders
New Orleans Saints vs New York Giants
Jets v Cowboys
Philadelphia Eagles v Denver Broncos
Key Game: Eagles Host Broncos
The marquee matchup is taking place in Philadelphia with the undefeated title holders hosting from the Broncos. On paper, you might expect an straightforward victory, but a quick search pops up reports doubting whether the Eagles are the worst 4-0 team ever. Who knows. However, is they have benefited from some luck on kick units with three blocked kicks, one of which earned a victory against the Los Angeles Rams. A crucial factor will be how Denver defensive coordinator Vance Joseph dials up his linebackers to stop the Eagles' versatile QB Hurts from charging down the field. If they can make them throw, then a statement win might result for Denver, currently 2-2, which would have prognosticators, including me, who said the Broncos would overthrow the Chiefs in the AFC West feeling more optimistic.
Additional Matchups to Follow
Elsewhere, a number of teams with single victories are eager to move nearer to .500 with a win, or right on the button in the case of the Cowboys after their wild 40-40 tie with Green Bay has them at one win, two losses, one tie. A trip to the Meadowlands to face the winless New York Jets should do the trick as they look to keep the offensive fireworks flowing between quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver Pickens. In the long run, top receiver CeeDee Lamb’s injury might benefit the Dallas as Pickens’ expanded duties since will have accelerated his development, creating the offense stronger when he comes back. In the here and now, the New York's backfield needs to be on their toes and then some to prevent a disappointing fall to 0-5.
Baltimore Take On Texans in Unexpected Matchup
Two of surprising teams with one win and three losses go head-to-head in Baltimore as the banged-up Ravens are led into battle with the Texans by back-up quarterback Cooper Rush. When these teams met last season, we saw Beyoncé’s amazing half-time show bookended by Houston suffering a devastating 31-2 loss at their stadium on Christmas Day, followed by a 34-10 whipping in the playoffs a few weeks after at Baltimore. However, without the injured two-time MVP Lamar Jackson on the field, who threw multiple scores, ran in three scores, and accumulated massive yardage across the previous games, Houston’s defense will be optimistic.
